Judge Glenn Sparham
Thank you one again for having me as your judge some 10 years after the first time I officiated. It was certainly a fun day and people took the critiques in a very sportsman like manner. I would like to note that while there were some obvious choices for me there are some other incredibly difficult ones. There was a great variety of outlines and styles and comparing them is always hard.
A number of things have changed since I last judged here but some have also stayed the same. There is a greater depth of quality than last time and a number of animals would be competitive in any state and should contribute to the breed if bred well. There is still an issue with short upper arms and I saw little progression from last time. This is rampant however throughout the breed so don't feel like you are alone there!
There were a lot of straight stifles and couple this with short upper arms it resulted in many top lines that rose sharply to the rear. This is our burden to bear from Bulldog blood and I've had my share of battles with these issues too. There were some quite plain heads that lacked stop with wedge shaped muzzles which I don't often see elsewhere but there were also some absolutely stunning heads too. As always I endeavour to highlight a dog's strengths but this is no use to an owner unless you highlight the weakness too. If anyone wishes to discuss their critiques feel free to do so.
Regards, Glenn.

Baby Puppy Dog
This was a group of very promising puppies and all of them on their day could have taken the class.
1 Rangehaven Dance in the Dark (AI): Large Well boned and substantial. Excellent outline and balance. Good pro-sternum. Level top line which he kept on the move. Moved with purpose. Good skull proportions and stop, I would prefer more cheek and expect this will occur with maturity, he has a transitional bite to level. Well handled and trained.
2 Anmenta MGM Grand: Well boned and well put together, good head proportions and stop, good bite, head would benefit with more cheek and bone under the eyes, good depth of body and pro-sternum, to be critical he roaches over the back and was not as good in rear drive as the winner.
3 Bullalryll Zebulons Zest (AI): 13 week old well boned male, good size and excellent outline and balanced angles, good deep front and pronounced pro-sternum. Correct skull proportions but requires more stop and has a slightly plain expression. Excellent mouth, not as well behaved as the first two and I was unable to assess movement.
Puppy Dog
1 Firebull Grabndapoints: Tall red going through an awkward developmental phase. Correct short back and deep body. High on leg and quite narrow in front. Hopefully in time his chest will drop and he will fill out. Correct proportioned head but needs more strength. Good facial markings. Top line roaches and pelvis a little too steep.
Junior Dog
Very difficult class to judge owing to the varying styles of dog and obviously difficult growth stage.
1 Saturnbrook Koora Keeto: Medium sized and well balanced with excellent outline and short back. Top line is level on the stack but rises to the rear on the move. Correct angles front and rear with good bend of stifle and width of second thigh. Correct depth of body and straight front but he does require more pro-sternum. His skull is well defined with strong rise of skull. Sufficient markings around the eyes. His muzzle however is too short and his head over wrinkled. Needs more reach in front on the move.
2 Bullaky Bet Hes Good: Large and athletic with slightly too long in body. Very good bone and good depth of body but far too tucked up in flank. Too straight in stifle which raises the top line to the rear. Sufficient width of front. Requires more stop but the bite is excellent with a wide jaw that is a reverse scissor. Moves with power.
3 Monshein Stagazer: Large athletic dog with longer body proportions than ideal, requires more angulation front and rear and needs more length of upper arm. Straight stifles contribute to his high rear. Slightly Mastiffy in head, lacking stop, excess flew and skin around the throat.
Intermediate Dog
1 Ch Brinkybull Like A Hurricane: Excellent quality medium sized fawn Male, well balanced front and rear angles and excellent outline, good depth of body throughout, good pro-sternum and moderate width of chest. He is slightly stretched in proportions owing to a long loin. His top line is level and he has a smooth transition from his well arched neck into his withers and along his back to a correctly set tail. He has a pleasant head with correct proportions but requires more stop. He needs more bone under the eyes. Good bite. He has excellent movement and along with his superior balance this is where he shines. He has correct reach and drive showing power and purpose. He is very clean when coming and going which is difficult to obtain with such side impressive profile movement. To be critical I would prefer more upper arm however this doesn't affect his reach. Well trained and handled.
2 Tiararebel Viscount Greystoke: Medium to large two toned red fawn, correct length to height ratio and good depth of body and well sprung ribs. He requires more width in front and more upper arm. He is tied in shoulder which gives a him loose lifting front movement. He does have an excellent head piece with good definition of skull and correct muzzle to skull proportions. His mouth is also excellent which is difficult to get on a correct head piece. Good pigmentation. Slightly straight in front and rear angles. Requires a smoother transition of his top line to his tail set. His movement on profile was quite fluent and powerful.
3 Ch Bullofglory Copper Loadofthis: Large red fawn male with very good bone and depth of body and spring of rib. Correctly proportioned skull and good stop. Good pro-sternum but he has short upper arms that restrict his forward extension. His eye lids are a little loose and is over wrinkled on his fore head. Slightly too straight in the rear with high top line.
Australian Bred Dog
1 Ch Bullalryl William Tell: Excellent quality medium sized red dog. Very good balance and outline, good depth of body throughout. Good pro-sternum but too much white on his chest. Balanced correct angles with strongly muscled rear. Firm top line and well arched neck. He has a very good skull with good depth and width with correct proportions. Strong bite with wide jaw and just slightly under shot. He needs to move with more enthusiasm. He is carrying too much weight.
2 Ch Valgerd Storm Chaser: Excellent quality medium sized red dog. Very good outline and shape, good depth of body throughout. Very good depth and width of chest. Sufficient bone for his frame. Well arched neck but a slight dip behind the withers. Requires more angulation in the rear which would assist him with more drive. He does however have a superb strong head piece with excellent expression and correct amount of wrinkle. Probably the best of the male's heads on the day. Correct proportions and deep stop with very good width of muzzle and jaw. Ears are the correct small size and frame the head perfectly. Unfortunately not as balance in movement as required. I would prefer more of him all over.
3 Ch Grizzmuffley Live for Love: Very good medium to large red/ fawn male with very strong bone. Very good depth of body throughout. Balanced front and rear angles. Chest has good pro-sternum but he is short in upper arm. He is quite tied in shoulders and his feet tend to circle instead of reaching cleanly. Excellent definition and rise of skull however he is slightly too short in muzzle and a little too over wrinkled for my tastes. Carrying too much weight.
4 Ch Anmenta Standing Ovation
Open Dog
1 Ch Saturnbrook Dinah Might (AI): Excellent quality very large fawn. Very good bone, depth of body throughout and spring of rib. Very good angles front and rear with well turned stifle and superb rear musculation. Good width over the loins. Correct deep, wide front with pro-sternum. To be critical slightly too short in upper arm which restricts his front movement. Very clean head without excess wrinkle but needs more stop. Would benefit from darker eyes and more bone underneath them. Excellent, very broad jaw and just under shot. Correct small triangular ears that frame the head nicely.
2 Ch Willowbend Encore N Glory (Imp Nz): Tall fawn dog with sufficient bone for size, very good depth and width of body with well sprung ribs, too much tuck up at the flank. Top line rises slightly to the rear owing to straight stifles and hocks. Very well defined skull but needs more muzzle and bone under the eyes. Skull slightly rounded on top of the skull giving the head a circular appearance.
Dog CC: Ch Brinkybull Like a Hurricane: Quality balanced dog who out moved everyone. Very athletic and very clean when coming and going. Well muscled and coped well with the muggy weather.
Res Dog CC: Ch Saturnbrook Dinah Might: Masculine male with super muscle and strength of chest. Incredible bite also. Not the movement or purpose as the winner.
Baby Puppy Bitch
1 Brinkybull Janis Joplin: Very promising bitch with excellent outline and balance, good bone and depth of body all the way through. Well turned stile and width of second thigh. Very good depth and width of front, even showing correct pro-sternum in one so young. Pleasant feminine head however I would prefer more cheek and muzzle strength. Sufficient stop.
2 Rangehaven Born this Way (AI): Very promising bitch with good outline and bone. Good depth of body all the way through, sufficient turn of stifle and second thigh. Very good deep and wide chest, correct strong pro-sternum. Good head with sufficient stop and transitioning bite. Lost to the first owing to her rising to the rear and needing more drive on the move.
3 Anmenta Viva Las Vegas: Very promising bitch with very good outline and angulation, good depth of body and spring of rib. Well turned stifle. Unfortunately narrow in front and lacks pro-sternum but this could be developmental. She has an excellent stop but needs a stronger muzzle and bone under the eyes. Ears too large and rounded at tips. Top line rounded at rear and not as confidant in this class.
4 Valgerd Girl on Fire (AI)
5 Valgerd the Edge of Glory
Minor Puppy Bitch
1 Tiararebel Anfield Red: Athletic red bitch. Well sprung ribs and depth of body, sufficient bone for size. Needs more width and pro-sternum in front but could be a developmental thing. Arches slightly over the top line. Very good facial markings. Deep stop and correct rise of skull however she considerably lacks strength of muzzle. She does however have a wide lower jaw.
Puppy Bitch
1 Paradigm Lucea (AI): Tall substantial girl with good spring of rib, correct length of leg to depth of body. Very wide front however her sternum needs to drop. This could be a developmental and she may fill out when older. Needs more upper arm. Top line rises to the rear owing to a straight stifle. Plain head owing to a sliding stop and lack of rise of skull. Needs more width of muzzle and bone under the eye. Excellent wide jaw with reverse scissor bite. Fly away ears.
Junior Bitch
1 Bullalryll Ebony Face: Very good to excellent quality substantial red bitch with superb frame. Correct depth of body throughout, well sprung ribs. Deep and wide front with sufficient pro-sternum. Correctly balanced angles. Well turned stifle with very strong second thighs. Very wide over the pelvis. Pleasant head but requires more rise of skull and a deeper stop. Markings on her face need to be darker and tend to fade away into the coat colour. Top line round slightly on the move.
2 Bullmighty You’re My Best Friend: Very large framed bitch with very good depth of body through to the flank and well sprung ribs. Good turn of stifle and width of second thigh. Her front needs to be considerably wider, possibly going through a gangly growth stage. Head is plain and would benefit from more width between the eyes, a darker eye and more stop. Top line rises to the rear on the move.
Intermediate Bitch
1 Bullalryll Rohza: Excellent quality brindle with very good frame, outline and balance on the stack. Firm top line, well sprung ribs and correct depth of body. Good depth of front with excellent pro-sternum. At the limit of too much white on her chest. Correct skull proportions with correct stop and depth of skull. Wide under jaw. Top line rises to the rear on the move.
2 Tiararebal Duchess of Torque: Very good two toned red bitch. Good depth of body and spring of rib. Unfortunately longer in body than ideal. Excellent head type with good stop and depth of skull good muzzle strength, correct small ears. Well turned stifles and strong second thigh. Top line rises to the rear on the move. Lost to the first due to her front being cathedral chested and her feet east west. Side winded on the move.
3 Valourquest Guinevere (AI): Very substantial bitch with excellent outline. Very good frame with excellent depth and width of chest and pronounced pro-sternum. Straight well boned legs and tight cat feet. Well ribbed back but top line rises slightly to the rear on the move. Very good strong feminine head. Wide jaw however her bite lost her a place or more.
4 Tiararebal Sterling Opal (AI)
5 Bullofglory Golden Moment (AI)
Australian Bred Bitch
1 Ch Tiararebel Opal Renaissance: Excellent quality Brindle bitch with very pleasing outline. Well balanced with correct height to length ratio. Correct depth of body throughout and well sprung ribs. Wide front but requires more upper arm. Sufficient bend of stifle and width of second thigh. Very good to excellent head type. Correct proportions and excellent stop and rise of skull. Very wide under jaw and just slightly under shot. Moves balanced and with enough reach and drive. Slightly better angles would give her more.
2 Ch Rangehaven Lady Lucille: Very good fawn bitch with strong frame. Very good outline but slightly longer in body than ideal. Very good depth of body with well sprung ribs. Deep, wide front which would benefit from a longer upper arm that would allow her better reach. Well angled rear and strong second thighs. Pleasant head but needs more stop. Eyes could be darker and ears could be smaller and less rounded at the tips. Rises in top line a little and hocks are close together. Moves fluidly and with purpose.
3 Bullofglory Perfect Platinum (AI): Good to very good quality medium sized red bitch with good depth of body and well sprung ribs. Slightly too long in loin and body proportions. Top line rises to the rear slightly. Well bent stifles with strong second thigh. Sufficient bone for size. Requires more let down in chest and pro-sternum as well as more upper arm. Very good skull with strong stop and rise of skull. Correctly proportioned. Too much wrinkle on fore head for my tastes and ears too large and rounded affecting her expression.
4 Paradigm Diani
Open Bitch
Three excellent quality bitches that were unfortunate to come up against one another today. Any could win depending on personnel preference and how each was conditioned. All three are to be admired.
1 UK Ch Karmicly Dream Come True (Imp UK): Excellent quality medium to large red bitch with super bone. Strong but feminine frame with very good depth of body and well sprung ribs. Well turned stifle and strong second thigh. Very deep and wide front with excellent pro- sternum which is something which many of the males would benefit from. Her head is superb and the best of the bitches on the day. Deep stop with required depth and width of skull, strong wide muzzle and broad underjaw. Teeth are small however. Her head is a perfect balance of strength, correct proportions and beautiful expression. Her dark facial markings accentuate her head piece. Her small triangular ears frame her head superbly. To be critical she is quite short in upper arm causing her pasterns to be too upright. Moved with reach and drive.
2 Ch Valgerd Power N Glory: Excellent quality medium sized red bitch. Excellent outline and correctly angulated front and rear. Firm top line and well sprung ribs. Well turned stifle and strong second thigh. Correct depth and width of front showing pro-sternum. Sufficient bone for size however she would benefit from being larger all over. Very good head with correct proportions. very clean without excess wrinkle. Good depth and width. Would benefit from darker eyes however. Strong bite. Moved well despite not looking like she wanted to be there. Showing the looseness of muscle tone owing to motherhood.
3 Ch Tiararebel Opal Allure: Very good to excellent quality medium to large red bitch. Very good depth of body all the way through with well sprung ribs. Wide front showing correct pro-sternum. Very good turn of stifle and width of second thigh. Strong skull with correct depth and width and strong stop. Wide jaw. Ears are slightly high set and her eyes are too rounded affecting her expression. Moved with reach and drive however she was over weight affecting her overall appearance. Top line rounded on the move.
Bitch CC: UK Ch Karmicly Dream Come True (Imp UK): Super frame and width of front. Excellent head piece and clear strong mask. Very close contest. Didn't move as good as reserve bitch however.
Reserve Bitch CC: Ch Tiararebel Opal Renaissance: Quality bitch that despite needing more angles was very balanced in movement. Strong head and bite.
